Known for his brightly-colored, abstract paintings that incorporate the use of wood as an expressive medium, his pieces are held in the collections of the Chicago Art Institute, the Guggenheim, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, among many other significant collections.
