On Friday, March 11 from 8:15 am to 5 pm, the Oakland Museum of California hosts an Art Guild Day Tour at the all-new Crocker Museum with visits to the Barry Sakata Gallery and the vineyard ranch and studio of Stremmel artist Roger Berry.
Berry’s monumental sculpture is featured in numerous public and private collections including Steven Oliver’s Sonoma Ranch. He explains that his work stems from an investigation of the relationship of sculpture to the movement of the sun. Each piece can be viewed both as static sculpture and as “full forms revealed in the slow interplay of shadow to form from dusk to dawn throughout the year cycle”.
